Edmond, Oklahoma, alumni: Do you know your neighbors? I was looking through all of our 2026 Kampers who were at Kamp this summer, and we had 1,849 Kampers who have a parent who was also a Kamper or on staff. That is so much fun. But what I found even more amazing is that there are 108 Kampers from Edmond proper with alumni parents. Edmond, do you hear that?!?
One of the reasons Edmond jumped out to me is that my Kamp bestie was a Kamper from Edmond in the 1980s, and it was the first “big city” I got to drive to as a teenager to visit my Kamp friend. Libby! That is her name. We met at K-1 when we were 9, and we have been friends ever since. My summers at Kanakuk were better because of Libby, and I cherish the friendship we have cultivated over the years!
Edmond alumni, can you believe that in 2026, there were 108 kids of alumni at Kamp? That doesn’t even count the number of Kampers we had who were first-generation. Edmond is still going strong all these decades later!
I have a question: Are you interested in helping us get even more Edmond kids to Kamp in 2027? We would love to set up a home show (like the old days) so that we can help you tell your friends about Kamp! You don’t even need to be from Edmond to volunteer to help us! We would love to come to your city and help you bring your friends and neighbors to Kamp. Let’s do this together this year!
Let me know! You can reach me at jamiejo@kanakuk.com
