There’s a verse that has followed me for as long as I can remember—Proverbs 3:5–6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.”

Looking back, that verse isn’t just a favorite. It’s a foundation of my life.

I first came to Kanakuk as a college student, just looking for a summer job. But God had something far bigger in mind. Those summers opened my eyes to the way He works through this place—how He uses the Kamp experience to soften hearts, lift burdens, and foster a closer walk with Christ. I saw Kampers arrive with questions and leave with hope. I saw staff grow in faith as they served. And somewhere in the middle of all of that, God was shaping me, too.

After college, I stepped into a great job with a company full of opportunities. From a practical standpoint, it made perfect sense. But Proverbs 3:5–6 kept tugging at me. I couldn’t shake the sense that God was leading me back to Kanakuk. It didn’t add up on paper, but obedience rarely does. So I trusted Him, stepped away from that career path, and returned to Kamp—because I had seen firsthand how God uses this ministry to bring the world to Christ.

Those next fifteen years were full of growth, challenge, and countless reminders that God is faithful when we follow His lead. Then, in a way I didn’t expect, He called me away again. I spent eleven years at another company, and God used that season, too. But once again, the familiar words of Proverbs 3:5–6 came alive. God was directing my path to return to Kanakuk—this time for a third chapter.

If I had depended on my own understanding, I never would have predicted this path. But every time I’ve trusted Him, He has made the next step clear. And every time I’ve come back to ministry, it has been for the same reason: God uses this place to draw people to Himself. That’s the heartbeat of this ministry. It’s why I came as a college student, why I returned after graduation, why I served for fifteen years, and why I’m here now.

I don’t know how many more chapters God has planned for me here, but I do know this: when we trust Him with all our hearts, He really does direct our paths. My journey keeps circling back to camp because God keeps circling back to people—meeting them, shaping them, and drawing them closer to Jesus.

And I’m grateful that He’s allowed me to be part of that work again.
